Utilithane® Polyurethane Coating Sanitation Wastewater Applications

2015-2016

The Utilithane® 1600 Polyurethane Coating applied to the Concrete floors of 18 Aeration Basins, a total of 180,000 Square Feet at an average of 125-150 Mils

Photos Below and Project Comments:

City of Los Angeles, Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant, Concrete Aeration Basins prior to Surface Preparation with heavy deterioration to the floors and up the walls. Deterioration of the concrete is to where concrete aggregate has been exposed.

The Concrete Basin floors and 3 feet up the walls were coated Utilithane® 1600 Polyurethane Coating, an ASTM D16 Type V pure Polyurethane.

The Utilithane® 1600 Polyurethane Coating was applied at 125-150 Mils thickness directly to the excessive rough surface profile without the use of expensive and time consuming cementitious resurfacing product application. Surface Preparation was high pressure water blast to an ICRI CSP-5 Profile minimum to sound concrete per SSPC-SP13/NACE No. 6.

The aerator piping within the basins are supported with metal bracketing. The bracket at the concrete floor is buried with 250-500 Mils Utilithane® 1600 Polyurethane Coating for complete encapsulation. There's a total of 180,000 Square Feet within the 18 Concrete Basins that’s been coated with the Utilithane® 1600 Polyurethane.

Applications of Utilithane® 1600 Polyurethane Coating are during normal day time working hours including hot summer days with no outgassing occurring though the Utilithane Polyurethane Coating. This is an exclusive trait of Utilithane® 1600 Polyurethane. No need for applications into in declining temperatures or during expensive night shifts for pinhole free applications.
